For many seniors, travel is at the top of the bucket list after retirement. Some may not have had the opportunity to travel during their working years, while others were simply too busy to take extended vacations. Today, there are many innovative gadgets available that can make traveling easier, safer, and more enjoyable. I am not sponsored by, nor do I endorse, any of the specific products mentioned. Most of these items are available in multiple versions and from various brands, so I encourage everyone to shop around and choose what best fits their needs.
Lighted make up mirror $9
As I age, I find that I can’t put on my eye make up without a magnifying mirror. And I get very disappointed when the hotel I am staying in doesn’t have a magnifying mirror. The solution is traveling with one, but I always am cognizant of the weight of an item. This mirror seems to be perfect for travel.
Smartphone printer $135 for printer and one package of 20 film
One of the most fun activities on a vacation is memorializing it in photos. This portable printer is a fun addition to taking photos.
Safe $40
I wish I had this safe with me on my last vacation. When you are sitting in a beach chair and you want to take a dip in the pool, but have your phone, your wallet, your glasses and your room key with you, you hesitate to leave it unattended. This safe attaches to your beach chair.
SAFEGO Portable Indoor/Outdoor Lock Box Safe with Key and Combination Access (White) – Amazon.com
Soap holder $14
I never trust a hotel to have soap. So I always travel with some. Using a baggie to transport the soap is not the best strategy, so this soap bag is a great solution.
Handle wraps $10 for four
We are always looking for ways to make sure no one takes our suitcase off the baggage carousel. This is an easy way to spot your suitcase.
Ear plugs $20
Sleeping on vacation is always a challenge. It’s always a nasty surprise to learn your hotel is right next to a train track. Or if your partner snores, there’s no place to escape to when you are in a hotel room. These ear plugs are a bit pricy, and they are designed for those who sleep on their sides, so they could be a wonderful solution.
Neck wrap reading light $15
Speaking of sleeping in a hotel room, if you like to read in bed, and there’s no place to move to, this reading light won’t bother your partner.
Silk sleeping bag $71
There has been a lot in the news about bed bugs in hotel beds. One solution is to use this sleeping bag liner.
Sleep headphones $27
There are sleep masks and there are headphones. This combines the two and is pretty cool for both airplanes and hotels.
Cup holder $9.49
I am not a coffee addict, but you see so many people in airports trying to manage their coffee cup and their carry on. This wrap for your suitcase handle helps you juggle those things when you’re walking through the airport.
